Physical awareness & movement
I have more than one passion in my life. Besides Transactional Analysis, I have a passion for dancing. This last passion started in 1975 with my first dancing lessons. In 1985 I became a qualified teacher, running my own dancing school in the centre of the Netherlands. I danced as a professional competitor and was well known as an international trainer and adjudicator.
I love to combine my two passions and developed, together with Janni Macfarlane PTSTA (P) from England, a dance workshop for the TA World Conference in 2017 in Berlin, which was a great success. This experiential workshop was based on boundaries and we used contemporary Ballet and Tango as a medium to examine boundaries. Feedback from participants showed that they enjoyed the active way of working, the clarity of our demonstrations, and the feel and flow of the workshop. They also reported learning a lot about themselves in the process.
In the autumn of 2017 we started to develop our next workshop for the UKATA conference in April 2018 about sexual identity and gender.
Transactional Analysis and dance are an effective combination and will enable you to develop a reflexive approach and greater awareness towards a variety of topics that can be related to all the fields of TA (psychotherapy, organizational, counselling, educational). In these active workshops I will draw on concepts from dance movement therapy to give you the opportunity to learn more about yourself from an embodied perspective. You will also learn how to dance the basic Tango! No prior dance experience is necessary, just a willingness to explore, be curious and have some fun.
